A NICE GERMAN WEEKEND

Not a huge fan of these flyers’ artwork but still thought I should let my German mob know: CARTE BLANCHE is touring the country this weekend, and we’re psyched about it all.

FIRST STOP: BERLIN, WATERGATE, THURSDAY.

Berlin

SECOND STOP: MUNICH, ERSTE LIGA, FRIDAY.

Munich

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: HAMBURG, BAALSAAL, SATURDAY.

Hamburg

Been wanting to play there for a long time so… SEE YOU THERE—

CARTE BLANCHE TOUR DIARY (EPISODE 3)

CB NEW

DAY 7: PARIS

Who doesn’t like a good home gig? Friends, no travels and home advantage, formula for good fun.
Actually, to tell you the truth, we were a bit tense at the idea of playing our relatively new show to our peeps but a few drinks helped relieve the pressure. We’ll play Paris again soon though, I’ll keep you posted—

DAY 8: BRUSSELS

K-Nal was our best show so far, point blank. Peace in Belgium, man, you guys should all make up and celebrate love and unity in the Kingdom.

Seriously though, let me give it up to two of my favourite DJ’s that we’ve been bumping on the road a lot for their great mixtape work:

Daruma GDNDaruma, live from Gare Du Nord!

DARUMA from the DEX PISTOLS shared this amazing mixtape that fits right in the Carte Blanche basket, go give him his props.

beni-mixtape

And the one and only BENI from Australia/Bang Gang Deejays fame is putting out a series of mixes at the moment, basically killing the koalas softly with these tracks. Go shout him out.

DAY 9: ANTWERP

CB 2

My man RITON got so British Trendy on me in Antwerp. Margiela this, Van Notten that, plus I loved his fancy footwork that night.

Henry, you foxy genius, I’m having a great time on this tour, this one goes out to you.

SEE YOU IN BERLIN ON JUNE 3rd, MUNICH ON 4th and HAMBURG ON 5TH.

M.

CARTE BLANCHE TOUR DIARY (EPISODE 2)

CB FERGUS

DAY 3: ZURICH

Zurich1

A wednesday night in Zurich, eh?
Rainy rainy evening, thanks to the brave ones who dared the conditions to enjoy a little bit of house music love.
That night we realized that those Yin/Yang T-shirts with our faces on might be our lucky charms. As of now, we will never play without them.
Main topic of conversation: how to keep a straight face while making a big technical mistake on stage.

DAY 4: LISBON

Lisboa

Boy, I love this city. (who doesn’t?)
The BURAKA SOM SISTEMA guys join us for the dinner+party combo. Kalaf, J-Wow, thanks for the Portuguese hospitality – and the pictures.
As for the show, we’re getting more and more precise, and according to J-Wow’s wife Anna, we even start to dance the same. Yes!

DAY 5: MADRID

Madrid1

No joking, this tour is shaping to be like the healthiest tour I’ve ever been a part of. Not to get into much details, but Sir Henry and I have been enjoying some kind of Dolce Vita way of life on the road, so it feels good to be in Southern Europe. The wining and dining is second to none, not to mention the ‘5 a day’ routine. (many jokes to be made here, I know).

Lisbon 1

True story: Riton tries to stay in room 909 every night in every hotel. That’s how serious he is about House Music. I tried the ‘Room 808′ thing twice, but I just couldn’t take the groove all night long.

DAY 6: BARCELONA

Barcelone

Man, this country of Spain, they sure know how to treat a brother.
By the way, being a non pork-eating mammal myself, can I raise the subject of that Spanish cured ham craze? I mean, having toured this country with Busy P, Cassius, Justice and now Riton, I can say that it is the only dish  that you guys will eat AT EVERY MEAL! Now I can’t compare this to any other thing, except for bread maybe. And if you remember the famous Samuel Jackson and Travolta dialog in PULP FICTION, then you know how I feel.

Feasting aside, we did play our best set at LOFT/RAZZMATAZZ that night and I think we’re ready for next weekend’s bonanza of PARIS + BRUSSELS + ANTWERP.

Reporting live from Barcelona’s airport, my name is DJ Mehdi, and you’re reading the daily CARTE BLANCHE TIMES.

Stay black,

M.

CARTE BLANCHE TOUR DIARY (EPISODE 1)

CB

DAY 1: LONDON.

P1020968LDN1

May 7th. Fabric. First proper CARTE BLANCHE show, so there’s a bit of tension. Been practicing and rehearsing with the 909 for a couple weeks. And this T-shirt business.

Loved how Room 2 felt like 2006, with a lot of my London peeps I haven’t seen in Fabric in ages. Peace to the Midfield General for the pictures. Shout out to Jamaica, Mike B, Brodinski, Teki&Orgasmic and Filthy Dukes who rocked the other rooms—

DAY 2: ROME.

Rome 1

Birmingham cancelled so flying to Rome after a few days-off in Paris.

Happy to see the L-EKTRICA crew of Andrea, Fabrice, Alessandro and Claudia aka Ed Banger’s favourite Romans. Show went even better than in Fabric. 909 starts to make real sense. Riton plays his edit of the Banana Song by Harry Belafonte (PON DI BANANA??) as the last track of the set, to an amazing crowd response – and my honest surprise, BTW.

NEXT STOP: ZURICH AND LISBON. STAY TUNED—

Mehdi and Henry/Carte Blanche.
